What To Expect When You’re Expecting

best movies to watch during pregnancy: What To Expect When You’re Expecting

The pregnancy of a group of women, all of whom had quite different experiences, are followed in this US comedy, which features a star-studded ensemble including Cameron Diaz and Jennifer Lopez. This film covers a wide range of pregnancy and parenting subjects in a light and entertaining manner, from bouts of morning sickness on live television to smooth, problem-free pregnancies, adoptions, and unplanned pregnancies.

You’ll be laughing out loud the entire time, but you might also shed a tear or two while watching this excellent film.

Baby Mama

You can’t go wrong with Tina Fey and Amy Poehler in this laugh-out-loud comedy if you need anything to brighten you up this pregnancy. Fey portrays a successful businesswoman who hires Poehler to be her baby’s surrogate mother. Poehler’s character is evicted from her apartment, forcing her to move in with Fey, where the two argue about everything related to the pregnancy.

The film chronicles their journey as they form unlikely friendships and encourage one another during their pregnancy. Make sure you’ve done your pelvic floor exercises in advance because the film is precisely what you’d expect from a Fey-Poehler film.

Juno

best movies to watch during pregnancy: Juno

This quirky indie film follows the titular character, a 16-year-old girl, through her unforeseen pregnancy. Juno (Elliot Page) goes from a carefree teen to an expecting parent with some grown-up decisions to make when she finds herself pregnant with her friend’s baby.

It’s easy to appreciate this film and its performers since it’s the ideal blend of humor and emotion. The film covers a wide range of topics, from adoption to handling marital challenges. The premise is fantastic, the banter is clever, and the premise is original.

Nine Months

Hugh Grant and Julianne Moore star in this delightful romantic comedy set in the 1990s. Grant’s characteristic 90s hair flop takes center stage, complemented by Moore’s stunning performance as a dance teacher dealing with an unanticipated pregnancy.

The couple faces challenges as they acclimatize to the concept of fatherhood, but there is a happy ending in sight, as is typical of the 1990s. The movie is fantastic and will make you laugh out loud, but it hasn’t aged well — Moore’s half up half down screams 1995, and some of the humour is a little dated.

Bridget Jones’s Baby

Bridget Jones's Baby

This is one of the best movies to watch during pregnancy. Bridget Jones (Renee Zellweger) returns in this sequel, this time single and expecting a child. It’s not just handling her pregnancy that’s causing her issues; she’s also attempting to figure out who her baby’s father might be. Is it possible that it’s her ex? Is he her new beau? You’ll have to keep an eye out to find out!

This sequel lacks some of the original’s endearing elements, but there are enough laughs and charisma among the stars to make it worthwhile to watch.

The Business Of Being Born

If you only watch one film from our selection, make it this one. The Business of Being Born is not a romantic comedy or an 80s picture, but it is a fantastic film that every pregnant woman should see. Ricki Lake’s eye-opening documentary examines contemporary delivery experiences in the United States.

Natural childbirth, caesareans, inductions, homebirth, epidurals, doulas, and everything in between are all discussed in the film. The film looks at the consequences of treating delivery as a medical emergency rather than a natural process, and analyzes our reliance on pharmaceuticals and treatments during labor. This is the documentary to watch if you want to learn everything there is to know about birthing.

Babies

One and a half hours and twenty minutes of ovarian bursting baby deliciousness. Newborns is a beautiful and amusing documentary that follows four babies from four different nations on their trip. Filmmakers followed these lovely newborns from birth, giving them a unique perspective on how babies experience life in different parts of the world.

You’ll adore the mischievous Mongolian infant in particular! It’s a must-see with your girlfriends — or even with other babies and toddlers in the house; they’ll be enthralled! There is no actual conversation; instead, real life is depicted — yet the photography is excellent.
